The ChallengeYou're doing good work. Everyone says so.
Your reviews are strong. Your projects land. When you ask how you're doing, you hear that you have great potential.
Then a role you wanted goes to someone else, and nobody can quite tell you why.
At some point the feedback stops being useful.
But great potential is not a plan.
It doesn't tell you what to do differently on Monday.
The work that gets you promoted isn't always the work that makes you successful at the next level.
Being good at what you do is essential. But as your scope grows, so do the expectations of your leadership.
You're working across countries, cultures, time zones and teams, and each one has a different idea of what good leadership looks like.
Some of those expectations get written down. Most of them don't.
THE GLOBAL LEADER'S COMPASS™You know you're capable of more. The question is where to focus to get there.
Most leadership advice tells you to get better at everything. That isn't a plan either.
The Global Leader's Compass™ is built around four capabilities that matter more as your responsibility, visibility and scope grow. It's not about becoming someone else. It's about knowing what to adapt, what to strengthen, and what to stay grounded in.
01Credibility
Can people trust your judgment?
Trust is earned before influence is granted.
02Cultural Intelligence
Can you lead effectively across cultures?
Understand cultural differences, recognize unwritten expectations, and adapt how you communicate, influence, and lead.
03Influence
Can you move people and ideas forward?
Build alignment and advocate beyond formal authority.
04Impact
Can people see and understand the value you're creating?
Deliver results, and make sure they're understood.
About EvaI had to work this out
the hard way.
I moved to Canada from the UK with a three-month-old son and years of international experience behind me. People kept telling me I didn't have Canadian experience.
I was confused and frustrated. I had run global projects and none of it seemed to count.
It took me a while to hear what people were asking. Do you understand how things work here, do you know the language we use, do you know what's expected that nobody says out loud.
Being capable matters. Understanding the environment you're leading in matters too.
Once I understood that, I stopped defending my experience and started translating it. I went from Manager to Executive in under ten years.
I have lived and worked internationally across multiple continents including North America, Europe and Asia; led teams and transformations in global organizations, and led transformation for organizations exceeding $100M in revenue.

You shouldn't have to prove yourself from scratch every time your environment or scope changes. Your experience is something to build on. The opportunity is learning how to adapt, navigate greater responsibility, and turn what you've already earned into greater credibility, influence, and impact.

When I was evaluating my career progression and needed guidance, I reached out to Eva for advice. She generously made herself available, listened carefully, and provided practical, actionable insights that helped me focus on what mattered most.
One piece of advice, in particular, has stayed with me ever since: "Never attach your identity to your workplace or your title. That's only part of who you are." That perspective left a lasting impression and continues to influence how I approach my career and personal growth.
